Wellness with @leighannlindsey
After receiving an early-stage breast cancer diagnosis in 2020 and working with an integrative cancer center, I came to understand that the deeper contributors to cancer and chronic illness extend far beyond the physical body. It was there that I was introduced to the science of how unresolved emotional experiences can influence disease, as well as a powerful technology called EVOX therapy, which works to access and shift subconscious emotional patterns.
Once I emerged on the other side of that healing journey, it became clear that supporting others through the emotional landscape of illness was my calling. I went on to complete professional training and certification in EVOX therapy, established my private practice, and began working closely with individuals navigating cancer and chronic conditions. I am now also pursuing a PhD in Depth Psychology, and the integration of EVOX with unconscious inquiry forms the foundation of my approach—two modalities that, together, facilitate deep and lasting transformation.
Through my practice, The Accrescent, I help clients move through the overwhelm and emotional turbulence of a health diagnosis, offering a space to restore calm, clarity, and agency. We also work to uncover and release potential emotional root causes that may be contributing to illness. In addition to one-on-one sessions, I offer continued support through The Accrescent Podcast and my membership community, Healing Alchemy—a nurturing space for those navigating cancer and chronic illness that combines acute nervous system support through guided meditations (see below for a freebie), connection with a holistic community of peers, in-depth expert interviews, and step-by-step guidance for exploring the emotional roots of disease.
Q: If you could give one piece of wellness advice to women looking to improve their health, what would it be?
A: Get to know you subconscious self! The subconscious mind is responsible for 80-95% of the decisions you make in a day. Your conscious mind is only responsible for 5-20%. If you feel stuck in patterns of any kind (emotional, behavioral or health-related), consider there may be deeper unconscious contributors. Tools like EVOX, depth psychology, EFT, hypnotherapy, etc can be supportive in tending to the deeper unconscious self.
Q: Can you tell us more about The Accrescent and EVOX therapy?
A: EVOX Therapy combines two pieces of techonology. The first is what we call voice-mapping. Through voice-mapping we are able to measure tones in the voice as the client is talking to identify imbalance emotions. After identifying imbalance emotions, we are outputting the biofeedback frequencies that help support the balancing and release of these emotions. EVOX pairs so well with my depth psychological approach because I like to say it makes the mind, body and spirit so much more malleable. It’s common for clients to have epiphanies in sessions and I’ll frequently get comments like “2 EVOX sessions was like 10 years of therapy”.
Q: Any health concerns that you are currently trying to support?
A: In addition to general wellness (after a cancer experience you prioritize health in a whole different way), I recently learned I was exposed to mold for a prolonged period of time and am working with an amazing practitioner to steadily detox. Juna’s chlorophyll drops have been a part of this routine as well as the digestive enzymes which have been game changers.
Q: What’s a wellness trend or practice you’ve tried recently that you love and what’s one you want to leave in the past?
A: We are ever-evolving beings, so rather than cling to or reject certain health practices permanently, I try to attune to myself regularly to see what might be most nourishing to my mind, body and spirit. I think living in this place of fluidity allows me to curate wellness practices that truly honor my present-self. What served and nourished me so well a year ago might not be what I’m needing anymore. So rather than label certain practices that don’t resonate with me as “not ever” I try to think of them as “not right now”. To that end, a free practice I am loving right now is my hour-long morning walk (changes my whole day for the better) and a paid practice I am loving is the biocharger. Trends that don’t feel aligned for me right now are full-body ice baths (too shocking for me during a time of high stress) and HIIT workouts (I feel drained and depleted).
Q: A morning (or nightly) ritual you swear by?
A: My hour-long morning walks. I know it sounds extreme, but it starts my whole day off with slowness, safety and regulation. I feel like it primes my nervous system for the rest of the day. I feel more resilient to stress, so much more grounded and clear headed. It completely changes my mood, my energy, focus, even my digestion. In times of high stress and busyness it allows me to start my day with calm and “safety” signals rather than chaos.
Q: What’s your go-to meal or snack when you need something healthy and quick?
A: Raw milk! I love it because it’s rich in good fats and proteins and depending on my mood I’ll make it up in all different ways. Sometimes I’ll add chocolate protein powder, others I’ll make a saffron latte for mood support, or I’ll add maple syrup and cinnamon for a cozy, calming drink.
Q: What's your favorite Juna product and how do you incorporate it into your everyday routine?
A: Right now I am all about the digestive enzymes, they work so good and I love that they have the added probiotics which isn’t something I’ve seen before in a digestive enzyme. Mold affects the gut SO much and the digestive enzymes have been such a fantastic support during this time to help me break down food better, debloat and ultimately absorb more nutrients from what I’m eating.
Q: What inspired you to launch your podcast and which episodes have been your top favorites?
A: I had a holistic health blog for a few years and wanted to extend that to a podcast where I could have in-depth conversations with wellness experts through a holistic health lens. We just passed our 200th episode! A few guest highlights have to be:
Q: What has been your biggest challenge to overcome in the past few years?
A: Self-sabotage! I’m my first and primary patient (lol). I regularly work on my own limiting patterns to identify my subconscous beliefs and repressed emotions that may be keeping me stuck. When I first launched my practice I felt overcome by patterns of self sabotage. As I worked through them with EVOX and Depth Psychology I began to identify subconscious beliefs like “it’s not safe to be seen” and “you don’t deserve this succuss”. Beliefs that stemmed back to early childhood abuse I had never identified. I know intimately what it feels like to be held captive my patterns you feel you are powerless to change despite all your best efforts. But EVOX and unconscious work have allowed me to release these subconscious roots are is the biggest reason I am experiencing the growth and success today.
Q: Current Favorite Book/Podcast/Playlist/Apps?
A: Two books I fell in love with this year are Care of the Soul by Thomas Moore and The Smell of Rain on Dust by Martín Prechtel
